What effect did Reconstruction have on former slaves. well for one they got land.
and after the war they where free "some what". and all the white people had to say an oth to the union or there can not join the union. in some cases it gave slaves work 2 do but this time "i think they got paid for it".

well lincoln wanted to preserve the union because the union would have lasted longer then slavery.
slavery was bownd to go down soon. but the way lincoln sees it is the union will never fall.
